A message from Clyde Comstock, President of the Board:
We learned this week at the Children's Medicaid Re-design Team meeting in New York City that the implementation of the children's health home has been delayed until September of 2016. While the State felt that CHHUNY is well prepared and ready to begin, many others were not in the same position, and the MAPP system will not be ready for the kids changes to be implemented until the spring. In the coming days, the CHHUNY Board will be meeting to adjust the timetable and review implementation preparedness. Our basic goals will remain, in any case:
· Keep you informed on the status of HH development, policy and procedure via e-mails, webinars and a "direct line" for individual questions and discussion, while extending the open dialogue established to date
· Do everything possible to allow CMAs to extend mission services to kids and families via the many new options that will come available through HH, SPA, and HCBS, while supporting CMA's ability to sustain their own institutional fiscal integrity
DOH believed that only two of 16 children's Health Homes were prepared to begin operations on January 1, 2016; CHHUNY was one of those two. We will now use the additional time to improve CHHUNY's usefulness to kids, families, and CMAs, to explore every opportunity for new options that will advance efficiency, fiscal viability and service excellence once operations begin. We will be in touch - and we will stay in touch - going forward.
